How Recipes Activate The Brain

Writer's picture: Georgina ZuvelaGeorgina Zuvela

Try to imagine your favourite food. Yes, without much effort your brain activated and chose what it loves. You might not have eaten it for years. Perhaps you moved away from home, or maybe you have symptoms of celiac disease. You may be tempted to compromise your taste buds with a simple bar of chocolate instead. Stop right there!

Try a different approach, since it appears too hard to recreate that wonderful flavour, aroma and texture that you loved so much. Try not to judge your cooking skills, comparing them to a photo shot in a magazine, or a magical TV show. Let's face it, they are designed to make you drool.

Instead, reach for those trusted recipe pages, much like the ones your grandmother wrote for your mother, or like the one your best friend gave you years ago, and try to imagine how they would taste today. It's as simple as that! No deceiving pictures to make you feel inferior. You have to use your imagination to get active and experiment.

Confidence comes from within. This means that you can overcome laziness by remembering, drawing from your past experiences, and projecting ideas into the here and now.

Cooks are the most motivated people on the planet! Their brains are most active when they are preparing meals. They are happy souls! It's like going for a walk to get an ice-cream... you have to go the extra mile to enjoy it all the more.

Why not give it a go? You have nothing to lose. I believe it is a human right to create healthy meals. Well, I have written down a few recipes to set you on your creative way into the hearts of beloved family and friends. They will never forget you. Mark my words!
